My son Chip called this morning (@3:15 am) to tell us that he and Amy are the proud parents of a baby girl--Sophia Irene. She weighs 7 lbs 12 oz, and is 20" long.
God grant her many years!

"One hears that, in foreign lands, people are now learning to swim, lying on the floor, with the aid of equipment. In the same way, one can become a Catholic or Protestant without experiencing life at all--by reading books in one's study. But to become Orthodox, it is necessary to immerse oneself all at once in the very element of Orthodoxy, to begin living in an Orthodox way. There is no other way."--Fr. Pavel Florensky

Congratulations! I'll be making my parents grandparents this September.
Congratulations to Sophia Irene, her parents, and her grandparents!
Many years to all of you, and may you thoroughly enjoy your -- er, grandpahood. Grandpaship? Grandpa-icity? Grandpaness?
Whatever! When will you get to see her?
Warmest congratulations on the safe arrival of your baby granddaughter !
God grant Sophia Irene and her parents MANY YEARS !
Congratulations and may she live a long life!

Congratulations! What a beautiful name!
I agree, beautiful name! Every Divine Liturgy our priest holds the Gospels up while facing the altar and moves them in the sign of the cross chanting "Sophia" (Wisdom)
Chronia polla to Sophia, her parents and her grandparents.
