Charles R. Hogg, Sr. 23 January 1924- 1 March 2008

I just received word that my father fell asleep in Christ. I had seen him this past week--he was in a coma--and I came back to Michigan the night before last.

Among the spirits of the righteous perfected in faith, give rest, O Savior, to the soul of Your servant. Bestow upon it the blessed life which is from You, O loving Lord.

Within Your peace, O Lord, where all Your Saints repose, give rest also to the soul of Your servant, for You alone are Immortal.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

O Savior, You are our God who descended into Hades and delivered from suffering those who were bound there. Grant rest also to the soul of Your servant.

Now and forever and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Most pure and spotless Virgin, who ineffably gave birth to God, intercede with Him for the salvation of the soul of your servant.

Dear Father,

Though I know how difficult it is to lose a parent, I am happy that you had a chance to see your father before he passed.

May his memory be eternal!

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Psalm 116:15

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine on him. May he rest in peace. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, by the mercy of God, rest in peace.

You, your father, and your family will be in our prayers.

To my dearest and beloved Fr. Gregory,

Anne and I hold your father in our prayers...eternal be his memory!

Our love to the Hoggs,
Brandon & Anne

A little while, and we shall be
Where sin can never dwell;
A little while, and we shall live
Where songs of triumph swell;
A little while, and we shall hear
Our Savior's whisper, "Come!"
And we shall ever dwell with Him
In our eternal home.
A little while and we shall see
Our Savior face to face,
And we shall sing, through endless days, The wonders of His grace.
Coniaris, A. M., Christs Comfort, For those who sorrow

"Father, I desire that they also whom thou hast given me, may be with me where I am, to behold my glory which thou hast given Me in Thy love for Me before the foundation of the world." John 17:24

Memory eternal!

I have not yet had to say goodbye to Dad, but can only imagine your sense of loneliness.

One thing I learned from you and the Orthodox liturgy (perhaps the most important thing) is that God is good and loves all mankind.

All of you are in my prayers.

Dear Fr. Gregory;
On behalf of your brothers, the priests and the deacons of the Michigan Deanery, I would like to express to you and your beloved family our sincere condolences on the passing of your beloved father, Charles from this life to eternal life. Your father will be in our prayers. I am sure that you will always remember him in every Proskomidia service you will have, as you prepare the celebration of the Divine Liturgy. May he rest in peace and may his memory be eternal.
Your brother in Christ
Fr. Joseph Antypas
Dean of the Michigan Deanery

May my unworthy prayers at the passing of your earthly Father give Glory to our Heavenly Father for His Mercy upon all of us. May His grace, mercy and peace be with you and your family during this difficult time and with all of us until we enter His Kingdom by, for and through the death and resurrection of His Son and our Savior, Jesus Christ!!!

May his memory be eternal!!!
